This is how Germany's most famous cartoonist Peter Gaymann is celebrating his 75th birthday: laughter and fun drawn with a fine line. The large birthday exhibition in the Baltic Hall at Europa-Park shows Gaymann, who is from nearby Freiburg, at his best. It is entitled ‘Laughter in the border triangle – Peter Gaymann's drawings at Europa-Park’. Gaymann highlights the cultural diversity of the people living in the Upper Rhine region – in Baden, Alsace and Switzerland. With lovingly drawn subtleties, the artist brings the little idiosyncrasies, charming quirks and surprising similarities of these regions to life on paper. His cartoons are finely observed miniatures of life – always tongue-in-cheek, never hurtful and often astonishingly true.
From 16 October 2025 to 18 January 2026, visitors will be able to admire more than 80 original works, signed prints and sculptures by the popular artist. The illustrator has long been a fan of Europa-Park and also presents many works inspired by the park. The exhibition celebrates Gaymann's impressive life's work.
A central motif of his work are the famous ‘chickens’ with which he has been caricaturing everyday life for decades. In Gaymann's ‘chicken universe’, chickens are not just animals, but reflections of the human world – sometimes overwhelmed, sometimes in love, sometimes philosophical. The artist has created over 20,000 drawings to date, many of which have long since achieved cult status. The anniversary exhibition showcases the best of these – including some never before seen premieres.
